Manufacturing Madness | Pick the ‘Coolest Thing Made in SC’

The Manufacturing Madness competition is underway to name the “Coolest thing made in South Carolina.”

Presented by BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance (SCMA) launched this year’s bracket-style contest that engages the public to select the top product made in the state.

South Carolina is home to thousands of manufacturers that create products that are used across the globe every day. Over the last month, manufacturers have been in head-to-head competition, and have now advanced in the brackets to the Top 8.

High Noon Sun Sips hard seltzer produced at E&J Gallo Winery in Chester County is among the finalists.

Last year, more than 175 different products were nominated and over 113,000 votes were cast in the contest that eventually awarded Nucor Steel Berkeley’s product, steel, the title of the “Coolest Thing Made in South Carolina.”

“When we launched Manufacturing Madness last year, we hoped it would shine a light on the companies that make some of the world’s most important and innovative products right here in South Carolina,” Sara Hazzard, president and CEO of SCMA, said. “Last year’s contest not only did that, but the more than 113,000 votes cast demonstrated the pride and passion people have for our state’s manufacturing industry. We are looking forward to this year’s contest and in using this platform to again promote the industry and spotlight some of the more than 5,000 manufacturing facilities who call South Carolina home.”

Winner will be announced March 29 at the Statehouse. Voting for top 8 ends March 16. The final round of selections will open on March 20. To see the Top 8 finalists and cast your vote, click here.
