So, you wanna be an extra?
When a movie decides to film in the Charlotte region they set-up a production office and hire someone (usually local) to do extras casting. If extras are needed for the movie, they will have an "open call" when the public is invited to come to a location to sign-up to be extras. There may be more than one open call.
Pay attention to the television, newspapers and the radio. They will publicize the "open call" using the media and many times the media will have this information before the Film Office.
When you go to the "open call" make sure you have a recent photograph of yourself. It doesn't need to be a professional portrait; a snapshot or Polaroid is fine. Attach your name, age, address and phone number to the back of the photo. It is to your advantage to list more than one phone number (home, work, neighbor) -- if they can't find you, they can't hire you. Photos are not returned to you, so have copies made if necessary.
Each project will set up a local production office in the Charlotte region. However, extras aren't usually hired through the production office; rather, extras casting is sub-contracted to a local casting professional. Good luck! |
